Lady Gaga, or known as Joanne since her birth on March 28, 1986. She has shown a great interest in music at a young age. Known to sing along with Michael Jackson and Cindy Lauper on her mini plastic tape recorder. She also grew a liking to The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.

When she reached age 4, she already taught herself how to play the piano simply by listening to others. And when she became a teenager, she started writing songs and completed. Her first song which she played in public with a band she formed at an open mic night at New York’s Bitter End.

As a performer in the Lower East Side Club, which started Lady Gaga’s music career, she became known for being a provocative exhibitionist and theatrical singer. She veered away from the usual, similar style of songs that everybody was doing. She wanted to do “something that was original and fresh.”

Ultimate Pop Burlesque Rockshow

At 19, Lady Gaga signed a deal with Def Jam Records after working with music producer Rob Fusari. Unfortunately, she was dropped after 3 months. But this did not deter her. She met Lady Starlight and the duo started an act called the “Ultimate Pop Burlesque Rockshow” which gained much attention and turned their audience into fans.

Finally, Lady Gaga signed with Streamline Records and worked her way up until she was given the chance to sing with Akon. Poker Face was born from this collaboration. And with a partnership with producer RedOne, her debut album “The Fame” was released in 2008.
